Wow - i did not see that coming but i am glad that it is happening. On2 - one of the heaviest innovators in the codec world - has been one of the key pieces of technology that begun this video revolution that we are all living in. Google having this technology will hopefully better the video ecosystem as a whole and perhaps breathe some new life into it. Google has made hints that it will open source it - and if they do you can bet that even with the limitations of vp6 and the speculations of vp8 we will see video more naturally integrated into the everyday objects that we have come to love. our desktop, mobile phones, and our browsers. Ogg-theora has not been able to juggle the demands from the open video community, the browser manufacturers and the end user and it seems that vp-whatever may be our next better solution.
